32csm Scotland condemn raid on activists home

The Volunteer Charles Carrigan Cumann (32csm Scotland) wish to wholeheartedly condemn the recent raid on a members home by the Dumfries & Galloway police.
The raid took place last week end a short time after the activist had attended a picket highlighting the internment and treatment of Irish Republican prisoners which had taken place in Glasgow.

The incident involved 14 police officers in full riot gear forcing their way into the home, in the house at the time the activist was with his 3 children and partner who is 7 months pregnant. The man, his eldest son and partner were subject to immediate assault by the police when they entered the house, no warrant produced or explanation given. The women who had been assaulted was only unhanded after demonstration by the activist to alert the police to the fact that she was indeed pregnant. Badly shaken up and with visible marks from the assault she tended to the hysterical children who witnessed their father and elder brother firstly assaulted and then taken away by the police.

The result after hours in custody for the activists son was one of "no Charge" while the activist himself was charged with obstruction and bailed to a later date. The original reason for the raid remains unclear and when the activist asked the reply was "you know why".

This type of assault and harassment is unacceptable,  it is the form taken by many police forces and security services to try to "break" and intimidate activists, the activist has said that the recent raid, assault, political policing and charge handed down to him will not deter him, he will continue to highlight political issues, continue to highlight Irish political prisoners, continue to highlight the injustice in relation to the victimization toward the elderly and disabled while working in his community to promote a safer and drug free area.

St. Patricks Day Parade, Coatbridge 2013

Members of the Volunteer Charles Carrigan Cumann (32csm Scotland) would like to thank the Coatbridge United Irishmen flute band for the invitation to parade with them on Saturday past (16th March 2013)
The day was a success and well planned and presented, also in attendance were the Volunteer Brendan Hughes RFB, the Volunteer Patrica Bland & Frankie Ryan flute band and the Garngade RFB all of whom did themselves a credit while celebrating this event of Irish heritage, indeed it is a fine example of Scottish/Irish solidarity and welcomed by the wider communities.

We look forward to working with and standing along side these bands and associated groups in the near future.

32csm Scotland 8th & 9th March 2013

The Volunteer Charles Carrigan Cumann of the 32csm continued to highlight the case of Marian Price last week end, The 8th of march was International women's day and the cumann used this day to further highlight Marian's internment. The independent protest was held outside Glasgow City chambers and attended by various groups as well as independent Republicans and concerned members of the public.

Information was passed out about Marian's and Sharon Rafferty's situation and treatment, it was well received with notable members of the public coming forward to offer their support and show their disgust at the situation the women find themselves in currently.

The protest moved inside the building demanding a representative of the City Council address the topic, which they did as a matter of lip-service.  The cumann and the collective of republicans have vowed to continue their awareness efforts with more pickets and protests planned for the future.

On Saturday the 9th of March the Volunteer Charles Carrigan Cumann attended the Gibraltar/Miltown 25th Anniversary organised by the Celtic Commemoration Committee, it was held in Glasgow and well attended.
A testament to the fallen volunteers and civilians after two and a half decades they have not been forgotten and will continue to be commemorated.
